    Cycling 1000km around the Netherlands!



    I set off to ride roughly 600miles/1000km around the #Netherlands in a week with just my bike and a few essentials – all to raise money for two UK mental health charities: Mind and Bipolar UK.

    Thank you to everyone that supported my Dutch bike tour and donated! An incredible £1362.50 was raised (including Gift Aid) which was way beyond what I ever imagined.

      Sitting in a grey, wet Lake (Rain) District in car-centric England after a very reluctant repatriation from near the Hook of Holland……this film hasn't helped. The Netherlands is cycling heaven; I hope I make it back to stay.

      I was really diggin this video at the beginning because I thought it had good production value but I couldnt watch the whole thing. Way too many scene changes too fast and you can't really see anything. Like a music video and I hate those for the same reason. Never really get time to absorb what you are seeing which is ironic because that's the exact reason to cycle.

      I see you have been to Haaksbergen, the old house is called: Los Hoes (it is in dialect which means Open house/farm) The green color is from mother nature. I go there often walking nice area. Like another comment, not only Amsterdam is the Netherlands. By the way in Haaksbergen is the oldest double watermill (still working) from the Netherlands. If you come again, visit it within 5 meters there is a restaurant with delicious applecake & coffee….to relax your legs.

      Nice video, now you know what a 'hunebed' is! Too bad you missed Giethoorn (or the Dutch Venice), the most beautiful village of the Netherlands, very close to where I was born (Zwartsluis). Wish individual shots were a bit longer. Living in the U.K. now, also beautiful just different.

      Thanks for this beautiful video and your work in raising money for the two charities! I'm Dutch myself and it was nice to see you cycling through my hometown 🙂 (day 7: around 58km. I lived just 5 minutes away from that cycling road; those Scottish Highlanders are everywhere). You definitely captured the beauty of our small country and your video might even inspired me to follow your lead someday.

      Hi Jamie, thumbs up for this lovely video of my country. I guess the NL tourist office couldn't do better. . it is very infectious (do you say so?), I 'll have to go to the rivers region someday. .👍

      If you plan a route through the Netherlands make sure you take the coast and Afsluitdijk from south-west to north-east.
      Main wind direction is from the south-west, and if you have the rare chance of having a north-east wind in summer it is very much needed, because that wind indicates temps of 35 and more and a little warm wind is welcome.

Is it easy to find Hostel on the way or You carry on a tend? And what's the budget per day aproximataley? Thanks again buddy!

      Cycling in the Netherlands is amazing! I fell in love with the country even more while doing that. I could even go to Germany from the Netherlands by bicycle! And that's absolutely fascinating for a person who comes from a big country like I do. I wish I could nove to the Netherlands so I could cycle everyday! Thanks for sharing this video!

      Man… You are such an lucky guy. You did something that is a lost of people dream. Great cinematography by the way. I see my self doing some Netherlands cycling touring one day.
