Follow along as we cycle coast to coast on a bikepacking journey across Denmark in search of Denmarks wild side with our Jack Russell terrier, Banjo the adventure puppy.

Now, you might wonder, why leave the forests and mountains of Norway behind to ride bikes in Denmark? A whopping sixty percent of Denmark is made up of farmland. Only a minuscule 13 percent of Denmark is covered by forest. In other words: You don’t travel to Denmark to experience vast wilderness.

But there is something else about the Denmark. A different sort of wild. Consisting of Jutland and a whole bunch of islands, Denmark have a remarkably high coastline to mainland ratio. In other words: Denmark is a coastal land. Denmarks wild side is the coast.

The question, though, is where do you camp close to the coast in Denmark? Camping on the beach with a tent isn’t allowed. The solution? The few small designated areas where camping is allowed, often with wooden lean-to’s big enough to swallow a small tent. It might not be epic wilderness, but it sure has a charm of its own.

  1. How delightful to stumble upon this video. It’s really not my kind of thing… Sadly. But I love Denmark and I’m always looking for news and history items. The idea of biking across the country sounds appealing. But i’m too old for that. I love the images and your wonderful narrative added extra life. Thank you so much for taking the time to put this video together and post it. And the dog looks delightful. Greetings from Los Angeles!

  2. Amazing video! Reminds me of cycling in Denmark with my parents and brothers in 2019. Also, I’d like to ask whether a bike setup video would be something possible?

  3. denne video er så poetisk og smuk. jeg er glad for, at jeg så den, og håber i kommer igen en anden gang 🙂 tak for at i delte jeres oplevelse, jeg blev også beroliget af jeres rejse 🙂

  4. Beautifully done; both the actual tour and the video. I am a mountain junkie when it comes to bike packing/touring but at 72 years old I can see the potential pleasure of Denmark and may head up that way after the summer tourist season is done. Many thanks for sharing this.

  5. I discovered your trip through the "Carradice" bag that caught my attention. I travel, but with more sun, I live in Spain. I wanted to ask for information, the straight handlebar of one of the bikes, (N) is it Nitto? If it is Nitto or another model, please tell me the size and setback in degrees. Another request, I have tried to carry the Carradice bag and some small panniers in front like you do, and I just don't feel comfortable with the handlebar heavily loaded with weight, how do you feel "riding" with so much weight in front? I appreciate your response.

  6. Thank you for a wonderfully calm and peaceful video. It looked like you had a great time on the bikes, just like it should be! The old railway paths look fantastic for cycling, wish we had more of them here in the UK.

  7. i love your words … so wonderfully chosen … watching your videos gave me a wonderful sense of freedom … and yet connection to nature

  8. Hey! Pretty inspired by this story! Did you record the route anywhere? Would you mind sharing it? Also, do you have other routes I Denmark? Much thanks from fellow Norwegian

  9. The one's a diffrent for hiking and mount tracking outdoor in europe and asia,in asia the adventure start from a teenages and averages they's while to 30years old has retired, but in europe the adventure start average at up to 30 years old until 70 years old, even until to died 😁😂🤣👍

  10. Pleasure to see your videos. They are so full of calm gratitude and simple joy. As a father of two daughters and a bicycle enthusiast, I hope one day to have a trip like that, being able to ride with a graceful young woman and remembering all the trips we made when this young woman was just a little kid. Thanks for your channel. Glede til deg og din familie. 🙂

  11. That "thin sliver of grass between the bike path and road" is a WHOLE lot more than you'll get in the USA. And it will be massive Ford F250s pick up trucks passing you at 50 mph. Norway really looks fabulous in comparison to Denmark, but maybe gets old if it's your home? The eastern side of the USA does have lots of removed rail trail too, similar to what you're showing in Denmark. Thanks for sharing.

  12. I’ve been watching and sharing your videos with friends and family. The editing, your choice of music and narrative are all wonderful. As others have noted, calming and peaceful. I’d also add inspiring. I also tour with my bicycle, but so far only overnight trips lasting two days. Your videos have me thinking about longer trips.
    Thanks for the inspiration!

  13. Bramming til Grindsted bliver lavet til banesti. Det vil gøre det muligt at køre på banesti 95% af tiden fra Ålborg til Bramming over ca 200km

  14. Real pleasure to watch. Love the setup of the film with you narrating the trip as the clips are rolling along. Also I live in Denmark and it's really inspiring to se it through the eyes of a foreigner .

  15. I really like your videos and the way you make your bike trips a story one likes to listen to. I would still have a question, if I may: The saffdlebag look really nice. Which one do you use? Best, Bernd
