[815] A ride on the so-called “Slow Lane” a main cycle route around Eindhoven in the Netherlands of 34.5 kilometers. Average speed was 19.9km/h on a single speed rental bicycle. More information in the blog post: https://bicycledutch.wordpress.com/?p=18979
Why is the center line (i.e., the line between the two cycle lanes) "s" shaped? Normally it's a straight line. Edit: I think I can answer my own question: This is to indicate that you are on the "slow lane", right?
I talked about studying in Eindhoven. Well, if you are going to a bachelor – there's Fontys Hogescholen location Fliednerstraat at 1:39:16. You can bike to main location Rachelsmolen Campus by going to the east (that's right from this view) at 1:41:15. Just bike over the John F Kennedey, follow the Rachelsmolen and you will find Port 2.
Ridiculous speed of that scooter , if the guy in on the bike hadn't seen him with that weight and speed it could have been very serious, high time they were on the roads with the other motorised traffic.
the incredible things are for example the tunnel at 9:00. It was closed for three months to renovate, add stripes, and imporve it. All the soil now contains moisture collection so the tunnel never has puddles in it, and can't flood!
@BicycleDutch: You should totally try the GoPro Hero 9 Black for filming on the bicycle if you haven't. It has top notch automatic horizon levelling which would make your videos even more awesome!
I have an idea> scooters 50 km and driving on the road for cars. They are to dangerous for bikelanes. More and more electric scooters, you can t hear them.
These cycling directways are awesome!!!!! I like how speedy they are as they end up being good shortcuts and it’s a good thing because they make the use of space well used and accessible and they really should be everywhere
Yay… my city where I was born and raised and where I still live! 🙂 I love cycling around my city, more and more bike facilities are being created. Like recently a huge bicycle bridge over the highway and so-called "bicycle highways" are being realized between Eindhoven and Helmond and in the near future also to 's-Hertogenbosch. Those bicycle highways will feature facilities like shelters, bicycle repair points, resting points, etc.
I forgot to mention 4:14 seven months ago. Very important spot! Both for high culture and low culture. You can spot the Van Abbemuseum in front of you and if you cross the – old – bridge to the right – which I love – you will find yourself in partystreet Stratumseind – very important if you're a student for example. Said bridge by the way you can spot at 4:00 to your right.
I couldn't help but notice that almost none of the Dutch bicyclists stopped for a red light. Also the clicking noise you hear at the traffic lights is for the blind. So they hear when the light is going to change from Red (fast clicking) to Green. (Slow clicking)
This cyclist is apparantly unknown with the rule that shark teeth pointing towards you overrules coming from the right: https://youtu.be/eNS2IEZVzk4?t=1625
It's sad that 1.20.00 to 1.25.00 is probably the best infrastructure that I will ever see where I come from, and even that is disconnected and dumps you back into traffic. 🚲😣
Thank you so much for documenting what it's like to cycle in the Netherlands! These videos are a great way to experience it as closely to the real thing as possible.
I worked in Eindhoven for a year and was never off by borrowed bike,i stayed in Oud Wensel,it was a really nice time 20 years ago thank you for these memories, though i was mainly in the built up areas,it brought back the feeling of freedom i felt there,i miss my trips to NL!!!
how happy to see it) and i am happy was when just step out of plane unfold my bike and enter in this way)) this video is herat breaking how it is beutiful ways) Thanks )) just happy to see it again)
Always amazed how you can bike almost all the way from the station/university to the high tech campus only passing through parks. Though I would turn left at 9:44 towards the Genneper Watermolen and the prehistoric village and avoid the Bayeuxlaan. Those traffic lights at the Orpheuslaan are really annoying! It even triggered a remark from our otherwise perfectly silent guide!
Die "S" betekend Slow lane? Ik had eerder verwacht: Snelfietspad. Waarom nu weer engels :-/ Een gewoon fietspad dus. Zet dan liever de kleine "l" van langzaam. Zoals we op elk fietspad in Nederland hebben staan. Die "s" slaat nergens op
Thanks for putting this together. It's a fine way to see Nederland while cycling on the rollers at home. The beautiful cycling routes and countryside keep the mind occupied while the legs are burning profanities.

Funny walk , silly walk , 🙂
Thank you for this long tour!
Your bicycle does not sound good.

every once in a while I think "hey where is this I don't recognise this!" and then "wait I have cycled there before…"

Thought motorized bikes were not to be on red pavement??
What kind of bike are you using? Cannondale • Cujo Neo 2?
1:15:27 one could be more polite here and slow down in advance

Where are masks, there is dangerous, everywhere are can be covid 19!!!!
Is there a meaning to the ‘s’ centreline dots? Or does it happen to be a little stylised, for purely aesthetic purposes?

Thanks for the video. Really enjoyed my trip at Eindhoven couple years ago. Nice bike paths and charming city.
Haha! I've lived in Eindhoven all my life and I recognized most of these places immediately.

Why can't all towns and cities be like this?

This video wouldn't last even 1 minute In my country
Eindhoven is a bit of a disappointment. The complete car culture is not over.

Maybe swivel your GoPro at Nice sites like the Karpendonkse plas, nobody knew you were passing a beautiful man made lake.
Ministry of silly walks!!

The speed of the scooter shows why they should not be on a cycle path.

Why are motorized vehicles allowed in the bike lane. They should be on the streets with the cars.
Mopeds should be forbidden
