Just brought my first road bike, thanks for the tips. Making that trip out for my second ride tomorrow.
Bonked once. Never again. Hydrate before fuel up before, take liquids and gel packs with me on EVERY rude no matter how long the ride. Once experienced never repeated.
those are some really solid points. the last one especially makes the most sense. Do what you want, it is your journey after all, why let what others think or what you think others think dictate what you do or how you enjoy the hobby?
Love it thank you!
What did yous say ? slowly please…
Thank you for this! I'm trying to start cycling again and videos like this really help and support!
I bonked once and found some McDonald’s French fries alongside the road. They were the best fries I ever ate
I’m a newbie to cycling and I never realized how technical bikes and the actual cycling actually are…this is nuts. I feel so behind, I feel as though I’ll never catch up to everyone in these comments. I ride with my kids in a bike trailer on the back (about 60 pounds total, sry, I’m American).
I felt guilty about my personal little tradition of getting myself candy on long rides but now feel 100% better knowing that's actually recommended
Don't use carbohydrate to refuel and never eat sweets on rides, I tried protein and fat and it's more than twice as sustaining with all my endurance activities. Fats like butter, meat fat and olive oil, and high fat foods like avocado's and nuts etc metabolise way slower than carbohydrates and almost 10 times slower than refined sugars, but eating fats with carbohydrates is no good. The fat gets pushed to the back of the usable glycogen queue and the carbohydrate spikes the insulin and causes rapid blood sugar drop forcing more food consumption and the fat dosen't metabolise and gets stored.
0:56 I remember was I was about 8 years old and I hand I nice green bike and I flew into a tree by my grandpas house because I hit the brakes to late he ended up spending 3 hours trying to fix my handle bars because he didn't know what position I wanted it in
A really good tip as always look for that second and third wind when you are on a long ride and always pace yourself! Don't clink the pedals either this I feel like it wears down the bearings in your crankshaft. Do not Bob and weave while riding this exerts energy always maintain a good straight posture. When possible ride in the shade and stay out of the Sun as much as possible no one wants to be a roasted lobster on a bike ride and be uncomfortable. Always ride with traffic and never against because there are rules to physics the speed of a head-on crash is doubled
geez you are so cute!
Thank you!! I recently got so excited about triathlon. Thanks for the tips. GOD bless you all and your loved ones
Brilliant video. No10 is the most important one. I notice if I'm out on my cheap mtb just trying to stay fit , the ones that don't.nod or wave back are the people often on the expensive road bikes. 😮. Which I have no interest in riding . I'm happy with my own set up . Be polite as I would always help out if needed. 😊
what's your best advice for cycling on roads? i find that the fitness part doesn't really put me off a lot, it's more the fear that I'm going to get hit by a car at any moment moving lanes or something
I don't understand why anyone would want clipped in shoes. If something was to happen and you needed to jump of your bike, it would be difficult to do so.
What’s a bonk?
Amazing video bro
Beef jerky is a great riding snack
ive never experiened the bonk but i usualy dont bike more than 70km
Thank you!
Thanks for the tips, im brand new to this and dont ride with anyone so this was super helpful information
