The King surprised a group of cyclists who were going for a ride around Balmoral when he stopped to talk to them.

The monarch was hiking alone on the Scottish estate over the summer when he passed the mountain bikers, who happened to be filming during the unlikely encounter.

Wearing a flat cap and brown padded jacket and carrying a walking stick, the King chatted to the group about the weather and reminisced on some of his childhood memories on the estate with his family.

In footage posted to YouTube by Andrew McAvoy, a professional mountain biker from Lochgilphead, in Scotland, the King can be heard asking the men if they had cycled around the estate before – joking that they were probably “old hands”.

    1. I've never liked the royal family but it's good that he actually does stuff like this on his own. I think it would feel good for him to be by himself at times with no one around and appreciating nature

    2. Sound like the story of those Americans walking near Balmoral and the Queen and her security guard were walking and came across the Americans amd didnt relize that she was the Queen because she had on her scarf and was dressed casually and She walked by a group of American tourists, but they failed to recognize her and asked if she lived nearby, to which she said she did.

Yet when asked if she had met the Queen, the monarch playfully hit back: 'No, but he has', pointing to her protection officer.

They then asked Her Majesty to take a photograph of them with the policeman, before they also took one with her.

    3. This also happened to my fiends mother and her fried although on that occasion it was the queen asking them if they would like to join her for lunch! The royals enjoy their time at Balmoral when they can be almost normal.

    4. His Majesty King Charles proving just how approachable, likeable and ‘majestic’ he truly is. What a wonderful sovereign we have! We are very fortunate to have him succeed our Glorious Queen Elizabeth II. His mother would be very proud.

    5. wonderful.. and the mist. and the heather? on the ground. and that wooden cane. just wonderful–

    6. What a fantastic video and excellent rapport with the King. A friend of mine now deceased Wilton Smith met him a few times who was a chief TV engineer with Rediffusion in the fifties and sixties. Wilton used to service the television at Buckingham Palace in the Royal apartments when a young boy with big ears entered the room and wanted to know what Wilton was doing and he explained to the small boy aged about ten. The year was about 1957 thereabouts. That small boy was the young Prince Charles also his sister entered the room but she was not interested and after less than one minute she left but Charles was fascinated with the workings of the television set. When Wilton fixed it the boy was delighted and I always joked with Wilton and said I suppose when Charles saw it working he said that he was 'absolutely delighted about it ' in his educated voice. Again hats off to the King for his natural composure to everyone. As for the lack of security I am absolutely amazed. I would imagine unbeknownst to the public he is probably shadowed.

    7. Why doesn't he want to take a walk in glorious London? Oh he wants solitude. Meanwhile all of his people trapped in the multicultural hell he's helped create don't have the option to escape. Disgusting.
