137 mile, multi-day cycle ride across England from Whitehaven on the Irish Sea to Sunderland on the North Sea using the Sustrans C2C route. Affectionately known in the cycling community as the Coast to Coast, the ride primarily uses 3 national cycle routes 7, 14 and 71 and passes through some of England’s prettiest natural landscapes including the Lake District National Park and the North Pennines AONB.

    3 day itinerary:
Day 0 – Overnight in Whitehaven
    Day 1 – Whitehaven to Penrith – 53 miles (85km) / 3425ft (1044m)
    Day 2 – Penrith to Alston (via Nenthead) – 30 miles (48km) / 3668ft (1118m)
    Day 3 – Alston to Sunderland – 60 miles (97km) / 3730ft (1137m)

This is a classic English cycle trip and one that I would highly recommend. My father, partner and I completed the ride over 3 days in June 2021.

    1. Thanks for the great video, fabulous scenery.
I'm thinking of doing the ride in the summer and wild camping along the way, is the route easy enough to navigate? Is there any kind of map app that would guide me or would I need to buy a map and plan the route myself?
      Thanks again
      James

    2. Great video, looks like you got great weather for it too.
If you haven’t done it already, you might like to do the W2W, Walney to (Wear in my case, Whitby in yours?)
I found it just as scenic as, or even slightly more so, than the C2C.
I did it on 32mm road tyres on a CX bike.
      Cheers 👍
