Great ride, Eric! You’re becoming quite the racer. I’m not much of a sprinter either, but that might change with more practice. These flat courses are a good chance to work on some new tactics.
We need to get you a “swear jar” every time you roll off the front you have to add to the jar. I lost track how many times… guessing Rob was going crazy!! I would say you should have gone hard earlier to try and drop all those sprinters. Still a solid top 10!!! What time Sunday?
Good job, quite a bit of suffering on that short course. I lost over a pound in sweat when I did it which is not bad for less than 15min. As mentioned by others you are heavily yoyo-ing, falling back, going over threshold and pushing forward, rinse, repeat. In the next races, try to stay in row 3, not further forward, not further back. PD4.1 does actually make it easier as you have to push past the sticky draft to get past one so you have to push quite a bit to yoyo like that. Try to find that power which keeps you just there … manage that and you will see that you have a much better sprint as well as you will be a lot less fatigued. As to the power up, you had a drafting boost but you used it earlier on … that's obviously experience and part of knowing when and where there are upgrades around on a course. Had you known that that was the only one you'd get, you probably would have kept it to the end.
and yep , just rewatched the part i havent seen live , at 3.8 km to go – dont chase your team mate down , when he tries to breakaway , let the others do the work and sit on their wheels , cheers , good power again
