Hello everyone. I've been interested in mountain biking for a while now and have yet to actually start. I found this used bike and want to know if its a good deal for $1,200. I plan to ride simple trails around the Bay Area, so nothing too extreme. Also I don't know much about what wears out on a mountain bike quickly so is there anything I should look for if I check the bike in-person? Thank you for any help I want to start this sport 🙏🙏🙏.

They bought the bike several years ago. Did it get any service in the meantime? Check the leaks and seals of b fork, dropper and damper. They are probably due service, maybe also bearings and pivots. This might end up being costly.
Best thing to do if you are interested is go see it and take it for a ride and then look over the bike. Does the suspension works as it should, are there any leaks in the fork seals, does the dropper post go up and down smoothly, do the brakes grab properly, do they make noise, do the rims and tires spin freely without any wobbles or misalignment, check for loose spokes, shift through all of the gears and make sure it shifts properly, check the frame for any dents or bends. If you have a friend that bikes take them with you and get their opinion as they may see something you don’t, I have done that before and been thankful I did.
As for price I’m not sure, it really depends on the bikes spec if it is a good deal. If you know the model you can look it up and see the original specs and pricing.
My last comment is that I don’t really know many people that put Maxxis Minnion tires on bikes that they just lightly trail ride. But that’s just me.
Hope some of this helps
