I don’t know if I understand what your question is asking, but what I’m gonna say is…
Pull that wheel all the way into the back of the dropouts and see if your chain still has that much slack. Ideally, it should only have a half-inch-or-so of play, so you might need to take a link out too.

Yes it works the same and your dropouts are definitely long enough to get good chain tension with the appropriate chain length, zero reason why this shouldn’t work.
