I was diagnosed with terminal advanced kidney cancer in April 2023. Over the past year, I’ve been on life-prolonging medication that will stop working soon. I bought myself an eMTB in the summer of 2024 to enjoy my health while I still have it. Here’s one of my rides—I plan to keep riding as much as I can throughout the winter since I don’t know if I’ll be healthy enough to stay active next summer. I wholeheartedly recommend electric mountain biking—it gives you an incredible sense of achievement from day one.

I am deeply grateful for the Norwegian public healthcare system and welfare model. It has given me access to life-prolonging treatment and the support needed to focus on living life to the fullest during such a challenging time. Knowing that I don’t have to worry about medical expenses or support makes a world of difference, and I don’t take that for granted.
