Hey all,
I'm deciding between the Rock Machine Blizz 30 and the Kona Lava Dome for trail riding, and I need your advice!
The Rock Machine Blizz 30 is on sale for €600, which seems like an amazing deal with great specs. But I'm worried about the quality at that price – is it too good to be true?
On the other hand, the Kona Lava Dome is the same price but comes with a 100mm air fork. The Kona has a good reputation for quality, but the fork feels like a downgrade compared to the Blizz 30.
Blizz 30 specs:
-120mm RST aerial air fork
-Shimano Altus 2×9 drivetrain
-WTB ranger comp tires
-SHIMANO BL-MT4100/BR-MT410, 180/160 rotor, hydraulic disc brake
Lava Dome specs:
-Suntour XCR 32 LO-R or RST Omega Coil Spring 100mm
-1×9 Shimano drivetrain w/clutch
-Tektro TR brakes 180mm front 160mm rear
-WTB Trail Boss or Maxxis Rekon

I think you should go for the Rock Machine it seems like a better deal
Lava dome all day. Kona always nail the geo on these cheap hardtails and that’s what matters at this price point, it’ll just ride better.
The difference between the other components will be negligible.
Rock Machine – that’s a name I haven’t heard in a while!
Honestly, from my experience- don’t look at what is packed stock. Look at how upgradable that is, and Kona is way better at least because it has tapered steering tube. Sure, Rock Machine got 120 mm fork in stock, but it’s a straight steerer. You just won’t be able to upgrade. Plus you don’t need 2x anymore, it’s an outdated gimmick, and Kona has 1x drivetrain stock. I know that Rock Machine is decent quality – but this is not the one I’d go for
