Woah what?? Can you do a 700c wheel on a 26” frame? I imagine clearance would be tight but…

You can, but you need Xtra long vbrakes (found on AliExpress). Also, you will lose a lot of upper clearance, so you won’t be able to install beefy tires

So many reasons not to

Gary’s Projects did this to put 24” wheels on a 26er DJ frame. Seemed to work out pretty ok.

I have been riding a 80s 26′ inch MTB with 28 road wheels for 12 years.
for the braking I am using long reach road calipers that are bolted thru what is supposed to be the mudguard fixation hole.
it’s perfectly fine just riding a bit high dude to oversize wheels. also I cannot really go above 25mm tyres

This is a terrible idea. I love it. Post some pics of how it turns out and your honest thoughts on riding it.

Sorry for ambiguity, copy from the original post: Got a 28 frame, some old 26 MTB wheels with 2.25 tyres, clearance enough, they fit. No pedal strikes as 2.25 diameter is almost like the 28mm on the bigger wheel (you can calculate via mad scientist MTB site calculator)
Fronts not an issue as already installed 26 fork. Rear brakes, a vbrake long arm 108 mm can be enough to reach? Alternative: I may add some reversed adapter (Like in photo – they say adding 22 mm, to install 20″ on 18″ frame) of course reversed as I need smaller wheel (sorry for broken english)
Disclaimer: above pic is another bike / another project that actually has 28 fixed brakeless wheel

You’d have to cut the brake posts off flush and tap it to use those brake relocators. Later aluminum frames have posts that screw off.

[Here’s](https://www.reddit.com/r/xbiking/s/VFRZkhPiyF) a 700′-to-26″ that was done elegantly.
I have these on a 26″ fork with 27.5″ wheels. Went this direction before I found long reach linear brakes.
