Its gonna be uncomfortable and if you ever crash, that open bar end is gonna take a core sample.

Find some chrome look bartape i guess

Looks nice, but it’s not great for grip, even with gloves. Can also be more fatiguing because bar diameter without wraps is smaller, so for many people it’s more effort to hold the bar. The bar tape makes for more comfort and performance in all ways over bare bars.

Try it out for sure, but it probably won’t take long for you to realize it’s a downgrade.

  3. I ride naked like that and I concur, it fucking sucks.
There are always chunks of me missing

I know your bones fucking hate you…

Also if you ever crash and don’t have atleast barplugs you could have your handlebars PENETRATE you and core sample your flesh

Rocked it for a while until winter came then I had to wrap em with tennis racquet tape

  6. Love it, I’ve put probably 8-9 years of riding solely into tapeless drops and my hands only buzz a little bit now, and it’s not all the time! 😀

Hockey tape is great if you want a cheap option with like literally any color or pattern you could ever imagine, just sucks getting it off once it’s on

I removed the bar tape on my 74 Raleigh 10 speed. I flipped the bars and raised them all the way up so that they were in the position that looked like old-school chopper motorcycle bars. It worked well. The bare bars were cold in the winter months, though.

  9. Aside from the safety and comfort issues it just looks unfinished. A real “oh I’m not lazy it’s actually a choice” kinda situation

  10. I think it looks sick and rocked it for a long time but if I went on any ride longer than a few miles the sweaty hands makes it much much harder to use the handle bars. Yea you can still hold them in the top position by the stem but if I wanted to do some stand up pedaling or skidding with them on the curves before the bars drop my hands would slide and it’s both inconvenient and kind of dangerous. So I caved and wrapped em.

Not for me, as I don’t like the look, it’s uncomfortable and slippery as dicks, but rock it if it works for you, bro. If you slip a hand when it’s raining and eat shit, though, just be sure not to take anyone else out. Also, the vibrations and extra pressure “may” cause you issues down the way. It’s a chronic thing that builds over time. You might be fine for years until you’re not, so just be mindful of it.

  12. My hands get too sweaty for no tape. You should check out those long silicone grips they use in Keirin racing. They go about halfway up the drops or more and I remember seeing clear ones on Amazon. That will let you keep more of the bar exposed and keep that look you like.
