Both priced similarly but I feel like the Niner is a better deal due to better parts and age, but also the Stumpjumper’s price is basically a good deal too, just want some input.

  1. 2 different bikes. The specialized is a fully while the niner is a hardtail. Decide which you need and buy that.

I’ve had the 2016 fsr comp and it needed a lot of work after 5 years of use. Only get it IF either:

    A) It’s been serviced properly during its lifetime (demand proof!)

    B) you’re ready do drop up to 400$ in fork, shock and drivetrain service

    C) you can do it yourself.

  2. That Stumpy is not worth the headache. It says “taken care of” which is something people say when they clean their bike.

The wiper seal is popped out of the dropper post, a common issue with the command post- one of the worst droppers ever made, a contender to the first few Reverb generations. It also still has the proprietary yoke/damper body shock mount and if that shock hasn’t been serviced (likely hasn’t) it needs to be done 7 years ago. The rims are narrow, and Swiss cheese, the rear hub is trash, who knows how the pivot bearings are.

The Niner is the better choice here.
