  1. I've started with Zwift in November '23 and I did Alpe du Zwift a few weeks ago with 1h 25m and I felt exhausted. But I hope for a better time next time when I go for it again.

  2. Well done you! I'm also a 'larger zwifter' at 100kg and I finished my fourth ascent of the Alpe D'Zwift today at the end of the Uber Pretzel and was the slowest rider going up the hill today. When I cycled up the virtual Mount Ventoux, I was also the slowest that day!

I can't help but think Zwift punishes this chunky monkey more than it should!

  3. Fantastic effort Benji. I rode it for the first time today, riding the full Tour of Fire and Ice. It took me just under 2h40m, with the Alpe itself taking 1h51m. I was one from bottom on the leaderboard but couldn’t be happier, it was just about finishing and enjoying the ride. I weigh 66kg but have very little power due to endless health problems so to get to the top and earn the badge for the AdZ was fantastic.

  4. I like using Alpe du Zwift club as a “fun threshold test”. 😅

My goal was to finish it initially then sub 1 hour and now I’m aiming for sub 50 minutes. I use the bot paced rides time to time to pace my way up.

It’s much more “fun” and engaging than the 20min FTP test and probably a better indication of your overall fitness. Great pacing exercise too as I have gassed out half way too many times. I try to really control my power output until the Dutch corner (7) then go harder till turn 3 then go harder again.

Great going Benji! Keep it up mate. I really enjoy watching your progress. 👍😊

  5. Great stuff Benji. Climbing out of the saddle is not for everyone, But I am short 57kg and 57years old and I climb the Alpe de Zwift Standing the whole way, best for me is 41min and interesting I couldn't manage 200w seated but can do 277 standing all the way.
Funny how we are all built different and one size does not fit all. Awesome effort Bro!!

  6. Nice work! Love seeing things that help the mental challenges. You should check out negative splits! I love them for this reason. Phil Gaimon says split any climb into thirds: 1. Easy 2. Steady 3. Go hard at the end. It gives so much confidence half way through the climb when you feel like you’ve been holding back or if you’re having a bad day you can always just sustain that first power you thought was easy.
    Really enjoy your videos!

  7. HI Benji, How did you work out how long it took you from the bottom to the top please. I am 110kg and just a newbie on Zwift. I did the Alpe last week and from the results I can't work out how long it took me. Do you take the lead it bit into account? or do you go to some other app to find out?

  8. Well done! Just did the Alpe du Zwift myself this morning. Oh, man. My cardio was up to a higher pace, but my legs were really starting to get rubbery by about the 1h15m . I did it in a race with a robo pacer, which beat me to the top by about 3 minutes. Placed 8th out of 22 class D entrants. My previous biggest climbs were multiple attacks on the Epic KOM, sometimes including the tower climb at the top (that's a freaking leg breaker). 1:44:47, i think that includes the lead in.

  9. Hey Benji, congrats on your first AdZ climb ! Did my first Alpe yesterday and like you I wanted to climb it in 1 go without stopping and I managed ! Drank almost 2.5L of water and climbed in 104mn45s at an average 169w 🙂
Was an experience close to yours, cheers on making it happen ! On our way to sub 100 🙂

  10. I just finished Alpe du Zwift today for the first time! It took me 1:48:00 exactly. I honestly got a lot of inspiration from your challenges and probably wouldn't have believed I could do it or even attempted it if it wasn't for you and a few others I've seen on youtube who are at a similar weight to me (no insult implied here, it's just that climbing is hard for us bigger guys). I was really feeling cooked around turn 11 but kind of got a second wind. Taking in some carbs before and during the ride is key!

  11. Thanks for your vids, Benji! Watching them i remember myself about a year ago: i did AdZ in 117 mins. Now, 1 year later i did it in 73 mins. I didnt do any special training this year, was just riding 4-6 hours a week, and got this far.

You have to aim higher! 72 mins in a year, go for it!

  12. I just rode it today! It was a group ride and I was extremely shocked than I could keep up with the peloton all the way to the top! My fifth week of cycling and things going the right direction 💪
