Source to sea down the River Thames here we go! Ahead of me is 210 miles of wading, swimming (!) and kayaking down quite possibly the busiest river in Britain. And I’m doing the whole thing alone and self-supported.
The rule I’ve set myself for this mission is this: ‘in order to make progress I have to follow the course of the river exactly.’ This allows for camping on the bank, but if I’m moving towards the sea, I have to be IN it!
I’ve never been great at posting about trips as they are actually happening, but for this adventure I’m going to try it – if only with a short update clip a day. Wish me luck!
Day 1’s progress: 3.5 miles
Total distance: 3.5 miles

How do you decide where the source is?
Watch out for turd 💩 jaws.
Good luck with the tides once you’re downstream of Richmond Lock.
Additionally, check in with the RNLI or PLA, sections of central and Tideway Thames is commercial and you can also see cruise ships operating!
Took me 3 days
Big river man uk
You should have done this 150 years ago
This is awesome. Here in the states you’d have been eaten by gators by now 😂
You probably need a dry suit due to the sewage
Dude that’s fucking rank (do the Clyde next)
Who is paying your bills and how do you make mooolah
SHOW US YOUR FEET AT THE ENDING 😂😂😂❤
Watch for trench foot.
E.coli. Keep your mouth closed in the sewage river.
youre gonna get sick
Would love to do this
I kyaked it a few years ago. Great trip. Enjoy.
That's going to be a shit load of shit your going to be nudging past.
Do not for the love of god go into the Thames in central London. It looks calm on the surface but there's a rip tide lurking below that will pull you under. You won't resurface for almost 3 miles. That's why so many people choose to commit suicide by jumping off the bridges.
You'll have to get out at Pentonhook weir. 😊
So how does this work with locks?
Great stuff! you should do the river Severn next
Napoleon dynamite comes to mind 😂
Awesome! Ive done the Arun. Thames is a MUCH bigger thing.
So is the river backed up to the start ?
I’ve travelled the whole length of the Thames (and Severn and Trent) but by bike which looks a bit easier 😂. I also did it mouth to source.
This is both mental and brilliant 😂, I shall be watching all the way dude .
English men are incredibly effeminate
Fresh faced no less 😂
Loved it the whole journey 🇬🇧👊🏻🚣♀️🚣♀️
I’ve had similar ideas recently… I’m sure it’s been done before, before the days of YouTube… an idea who’s time has come again!
I've always wanted to do this mate well done for actually doing it
What another great idea Ed. Awesome! 💪😁👍
So would be nice to know were the start point is. X
Where is the actual source of the Thames?
This is absolutely stupid and useless. And I love this! 😂
will you make this as normal form video series?
I don't really like watching shorts. I waited for these months so, I don't think you will(?)
