Went from Marlin 7 Gen 2 which I loved to Marlin 7 Gen 3 which I loved more, the dark green and tan sidewall Maxxis and the air fork, etc. But, everyone kept saying how Roscoe is just a better bike. My question is, is it really? What are the major differences? I don’t do any hardcore trails, just easy to moderate single tracks etc once every few weeks. Any insight into how to get the best out of this would be really appreciated. Thanks all!

I don’t have any insight on how to make it better. But everyone I know that has one, absolutely loves it. Great hardtail, nice choice ! 👍
The Roscoe has better components AND better geometry. It’s also lighter due to those components so it is an overall better bike by every measure. The Marlin is a fine bike for light trail riding or commuting but the Roscoe is a trail bike capable of handling some real trail riding.
I have a new Roscoe 6 and it keeps up with my newbie skill and with my friends’ FS bikes
“Better” bike typically means frame and components.
Frame: Roscoe 8 has Alpha Gold and Marlin 7 Alpha Silver. Trek’s marketing names. Both are Aluminum. Roscoe’s frame should be lighter.
Shocks: Roscoe has better shocks with more travel.
Derailleur: Typically more expensive bikes have higher grade derailleurs. But I don’t know enough about SRAM on their tiers. You can google that easily.
Brakes: Marlin uses Shimano MT200 (standard 2-piston). Roscoe has MT420 (which has 4-piston). 4-piston has more stopping power.
In short. Yes.
Instead of posting random pictures of your bike in your living room why don’t you actually post pictures of trails you ride lol.
