This absolutely stunning ride takes us over the Pragel Pass, Central Switzerland, from West starting in Glarus, to East ending in Schwyz. We are undertaking this ride in mid Fall with leaves turning and the sky showing some dramatic changes from cloudy to sunny. As we start out from near the Glarus train station, we quickly head into the hills and first climb to the Kloentaler Lake – an absolutely stunning alpine lake flanked by the near vertical slope of the Ruchen and Fuerberg mountains rising 2000 m above the lake. We continue to enjoy the turning colors of leaves mixed with evergreens as the road further rises, exposing views of the Mutteristock. Near the top of the Pragel Pass, as we ride in and out of forested areas, we see wide vistas of rough mountains, exposed to the elements and basking in the sunshine. A steep descent through dense woods takes us down to Muotathal. We continue on through the Muotavalley, passing the Stoss funicular station (steepest in the world) before we finish on the outskirts of Schwyz with the twin peaks of the Mythen mountains ahead of us.
