  1. Mark why haven't you tried the Garmin named after you? the new MARQ 2. Its even more expensive but looks marvellous in the Athlete edition.

  2. I just imagined a one handed scuba diver, who bought this new Garmin watch after watching this review, saying to his new watch: ‘Garmin, start new activity.’ And the watch only hearing: ‘blubblubbblub.’⌚️🫧🫧🫧🤿
Sorry that really cracked me up. I will let myself out now🙋🏾‍♂️

  3. I was going to get it…but then my brother's Tactix 7 Pro lost its vibrating unit, my Epix Pro developed a touch screen issue…the replacement has altimeter issues without me even swimming with it yet… so… Not buying any Garmins again. The 8 has enough bugs to keep me away anyway.

The Fenix 6 was the best Garmin I had ( I've had 7 different ones)…Definitely been declining since then, in software and hardware quality.

  4. There are so many variations of garmin watches that i don't know what the hell to get. I'm stuck with my fitbit versa 2 till I decide on the garmin watch that works for me.

  5. Cameras now arent even camera in the conventional sense. They are sensors, that feed software rhe generate a visually appealing view on what you took a photo of. A dslr captures what you see. A phone camera captures what you want to put on socials

  6. So right now I don’t own a watch, nothing. My fenix 8 Amoled 51mm arrives tomorrow for 1000€ net of vat. So based on this review it’s the best watch I could buy because it’s reached its zenith in terms of improvements. Cool, good timing, good choice, good price.

  7. All the reviewers here on YT speak about Fenix 8 as a smartwatch or sportwatch. Reality is that Fenix is moving more to a status symbol watch.
Nowadays if you wear a Fenix 8 you have a good life, possibly a good car and a good house. This means a status symbol. Status symbol is something that you can wear and make the others understand about your economic status.
    This is Fenix today.
Then, only then, is also a really good sporwatch with some smartwatch function.
Garmin is really good in market positioning.
Sorry for English, not native speaker.

  8. And for those who say that Enduro 3 is better than Fenix….
Enduro has a 3 beside the name, Fenix has 8 beside.
Means that Fenix 8 has a definitely longer development history on his back, is much better overall and is definitely looking better, more refined and more elegant.
Enduro is a cheaper spin-off made only to last longer from the battery point of view.
    Nothing more.

  9. I've never had a smartwatch and I've been using the same iPhone XS since 2019. By the way, only now in 2024 that a part of my iPhone screen stopped working (and the battery needs replacement as well).

I've been watching several videos about Garmin watches, including those made by DCRainmaker, and despite the improvements of Fenix 8, I've never got fully caught by it, especially because of price point, some controversial changes they did (buttons, voice assist that doesn't work as fast as it should, and so on) and one important point that few reviewers pointed out: weight. The Fenix 8 is heavier than an Epix Pro Gen 2 (especially the 43mm version).

By including a limited version of a scuba diving computer in their flagship watch, I think that what they are trying to do is fulfilling the expectations of few people who practice scuba diving and, at the same time, trying to instigate people to start scuba diving and justify their investment. Apple did this trick of creating excuses to justify what they sell and Garmin seems to be doing the same.

Meanwhile I will try to find a new Epix Pro Gen 2 for sale here. No mic, no useless voice assist, mechanical buttons and lighter. The biggest problem for me will be to find a trustworthy seller in a country where Garmin products aren't easy to be found.

  10. I am a moron who just bought a brand new Epix Pro 2 51mm Sapphire, justified by being only £500, a lot cheaper than the new Fenix 8 but not much more than even a second hand Fenix 7 so think I've done pretty good

  11. Did they change the charging pins. The charging pins corrode after 1 year of skin and sweat contact. I had fenix 5xplus and 6xplus sapphire both had the same pin issues.
