Started off with a beautiful descent to Cesana, followed by the first Col of the day (Montgenevre), down to Briancon and up again Col d’Izoard, a 19km of tarmac uphill.
Refuge Napoleon came to the rescue with delicious cakes before the last 2km to the summit. The brutal uphill made it for the stunning downhill on the other side. Up again we go on to Col de l’Agnel where we stayed at the mountain dorm.
