In Antwerp and Amsterdam, people use bikes for their daily chores. Bikes rather than cars are necessity because streets are narrow and crowded. Bikes have easy access to markets and are fully protected and encouraged by the authorities. Walking and driving in bike lanes is a violation. They say that there are more bikes in Amsterdam than people.
