1st visit to Harlow Mill on the West Anglia Main Line
Featuring services from Greater Anglia
Harlow Mill was first opened in 1842 by the former Northern and Eastern Railway as Harlow however after the building of the new town of Harlow after World War II in the late 1940s the station that originally served Harlow that became Old Harlow.
However both the village of Old Harlow and the new town of Harlow would be merged and eventually led to Harlow becoming Harlow Mill in 1960 which the name comes from a nearby Mill North of the station which is located next to the River Stort.
The main station that serves Harlow itself is situated to the South at Harlow Town which had opened as Burnt Mill in 1842 before renaming Harlow Town in 1960.
As for Harlow Mill served by Hourly services to and from Cambridge North and London Liverpool Street and Bishops Stortford with the latter originating from Stratford which are nowadays provided by Class 720 Aventras which took over from the former Class 317s after their retired in July 2022.
The other trains being the Class 745 Flirts mainly cover the Stansted Express services on the West Anglia Main Line along with the London Liverpool Street to Norwich on the GEML however in recent times with Stansted Services running every 15 minutes are also provided by Class 720 Aventras
There are only two overtaking places on the West Anglia Main Line which are at Broxbourne and Harlow Town given the lines history when it comes to bottlenecks and sometimes delays can be inevitable.
Since 2023 a new waiting room was built on the London Bound platform, the car park was expanded by 10 spaces and a new bicycle facility.
