Join me and Tom as we hit two more epic South of England climbs, Ditchling Beacon & Steyning Bostal via Brighton. A beautiful 120km ride, with punctures, coffee stops, climbs and Tom comparing one of the climbs to Box Hill 🤦‍♂️ This was a really enjoyable ride with great company and plenty of laughs, I hope you enjoy everything I’ve tried to capture….thanks 🙏

I’d be interested to know what you guys think, comments and suggestions always welcome. Thank you for watching 🤘

    1. not been Proper for a long while always good passing cyclists walking on climbs normally get a few comments as i ride passed with my prosthetic dont like the steep bit on Steyning but less cars than Ditchling

    2. The Bostal is one of my local tests, I’d give it a 7.5/10 maybe an 8 on a day with a head wind, where the hill starts to bear left and it ramps up you have to commit, it’s impossible to get started again if you put a foot down! Fun fact: There’s also an adjacent road (Sheep Pen/Newham Lane) up from Steyning that joins the Bostal at the fork which some suggest is overall a harder climb than starting from the bottom of The Bostal, from personal experience I think it’s due to the condition of the road rather than the climb itself.

Anyhow, another great video thanks for sharing! If you’re down this way again; Chantry Lane in Storrington is another spicy climb similar to The Bostal, leg sapping gradients that doesn’t ease until your hit the summit (another point to join the SDW) not sure it’s in Simon Warrens list (yet) and then there’s also Bignor Down, which is a right bastard, poorly surfaced with a brutal initial ramp exceeding 30% onto a sweeping corner thereafter just a grind up to the top of the downs if you’ve got any matches left! Keep them coming I’m too tackling as many of the South East climbs your series has certainly motivated me! I ticked off Toys Hill and Yorks Hill this week, Yorks Hilk was disgusting 😅

    3. Steyning bostal is really local to me – I think the views from the top are my favourite- but I usually go down the bostal rather than up – I prefer the long steady climb up titch hill from Sompting to the killer 20% section near the top of the bostal road..

    4. Only done Ditchling once as part of the BHF charity ride a few years ago. That false ending was cheeky and I think in the middle of the climb there's like a false flat but the reward of the decent the other side was nice although was battered with really cold rain all the way down to the seafront.
