    1. Just got my brommie last week after long lurking and hesitating, and I have been in awe!

Lived in London as a poor lad for 3 yrs and didn’t make the move…after getting a job in NYC and saving up some $$$, me and my partner both got on board!!

Everywhere I go I atttract more attention than ever (even more than I wear alt fashion) I think there isn’t just enough recognition. I heard more surprising compliments than I see other Bromptons. People asked me what it is, how much, where to buy it, etc. Brompton should hire people just ride around the city, folding and unfolding it at busy corners…

And I am honestly surprised WHY there aren’t more bromptons in NYC – all the people see my brommie were talking about how small it is, and how nice it would fit in their tiny ass apt (pic is taken in my 500 something sqft Manhattan apt). Also the benefit of not to worry about theft…

Although NYC is not known for the best cycling facilities, the nimble brommie and the flexibility to carry around can only help if you like to ride.

And the price…Brompton is not so much more expensive than in London – NYkers easily cough up huge chunk for extravagant s*** and I’ve seen way to many fancy roadies in Central Park that cost about 3 C Lines…

    2. Been riding my eBrompton to work since April 2020 and love it. Under the desk at work, in a corner at home.

Pretty sure at least one other tenant in my building also has a Brompton, and I’ve seen them a fair amount during my commute along the Hudson River Greenway.

There are more around than you think.

    3. From perspective of someone who daily bike commutes in NYC on a traditional bike. Commuting by bike is not common place in America like it is in the UK. NYC is one of the better cities in the USA for bike commuting but it doesn’t come close to EU cities. Also Americans think a commuter bike is a Hybrid bike or a citi bike not a brompton. That’s just a high level note. In NYC I do see some of bromptons around. I would take a guess that 1 in 30-50 are bromptons or similar small wheel folding bike. What is a lot or little is relative I guess. Also a lot of commuters here use citi bikes for many of the similar conveniences that a brompton offers. I agree NYC needs more bromptons and I hope to one day join the fold. 🍻

    4. Where in NYC do you bike? I see a lot of them from Chelsea on South and on the UES and UWS.

    5. Brompton looks weird and silly for most people unfortunately. But the main factor is definitely the price…

    6. They are common in Manhattan. I think Citi Bike put a dent on the potential market.

But the mechanical Brompton is much superior to the mechanical Citi Bike, IMO. Much lighter and nimble.
