We didn’t move to the Netherlands because of climate change, the environment, the cycling, or even the stroopwafels. We moved here because we have a better quality of life. But in doing so, our impact on the climate reduced considerably … which is kind of remarkable.

Also don't forget to watch "How The Auto Industry Carjacked The American Dream"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOttvpjJvAo
Sometimes it feels like US city planners design around the car because everyone drives, and everyone drives because everything is designed around the car. All catch-22 style. That city planners think no one wants good trains, bus, or real (safe) bike lanes, so they give us these half-ass excuses then wonder why hardly no body rides the bus that smell like piss or takes the bike lane that makes you feel like your remains will need to be mopped up off the pavement. "We built a bike lane, nobody used it. " that was not a real bike lane, it was a gutter, of course no one biked in it.
You prefer stroopwafels from the grocery store over those from soft and warm ones from the market? Yep, you'r not a dutchie 🙂
Man American isn't real, it's like one big human experiment.
crossover made in heaven
First time I don’t quite make it to the end of one of your videos. Those hardly funny interruptions, please leave them to those who don’t have much to say anyway. We are educated people and our attention span is almost decent. Thanks!
Love the channel! Looking forward to new videos every week.
But I do find this dialogue format distracting. Maybe it's the editing.
you are the quirkiest unoriginal white narrator I have ever heard
These videos make me wish that the USA had more trains. I'm not anti car like you are, but I would absolutely take trains to different places like the rest of the civilized world.
10:19: I don't technically agree with this. Talking to another Dutch fellow, he too impressed upon me why AMericans (and anadians) don't build walkeable big cities with bike infrastructure to get to work – to which I argued – that in my team, or teams of the past 10 yeras, fully 2 out of 10 lived in the city where they worked. Others would cross, 1, two, or 3 cities work of land to get to their employment.
To do that by bike, would take 5 hours in my case, where I travel 3 cities to get to where I need (the office); others, 4, in one case, 5. It takes me 30 mins to do it by car. By transit, 2.5 hrs.
Why not hump tulips
Are they a couple?
Canadian farmer here… One thing that drives me nuts is seeing some of the highest quality farm land in my province get paved under, and yet you drive through downtown it is just so much wasted space. We have a lot more people to feed as time goes on, and losing high quality land is the last thing we need happening.
The Netherlands show that a country can be wealthy and passably climate and environment friendly.
Omgoodness Wooley has a tail. The natives (majority pop) eat them in nz.
The trains here in Brabant, from Nijmegen down to Roermond, are dieseltrains😉
That was a fun collaboration.😎
just feel like its necessary to just add an asterisk that farmland is actually terrible for the environment
your videos inspired me to learn dutch so i could move to Amsterdam when im older
I LOVE STROOPWAFELS. I HAD THEM ONCE LIKE A YEAR AGO AND THEN COULDNT FINT THEM IN MY LOCAL STORE. ZODF SBUDFg oUOEWOBb sxB;OIRGAIWN's GOING TO AMAZON NOW
Burt Reynolds has been dead less than 5 years, so I would think most people, even the kids, would remember who he was.
7:54 this video is from Innsbruck in Austria
Ya lost me at "blah blah cuz of Racism"
I completely agree with changing transportation and cities/towns and by biproduct helping with the environment but when any channel tries to sell people an idea using buzzwords then I tune out.
6:09 looks like a prison complex / concentration camp
I used to live in The Netherlands, but as a foreigner I returned home to help my country.
I'd like to see some videos comparing transit in Asian cities. I get the NA/EU difference, but how does Asia compare? I took public transit across Shanghai once, but it was tricky. Curious to see a system comparison.
4:09 AAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PUTTING STROOPWAFELS ON TOP OF CUPS IS NOT!!! A!!!! THING!!!!!!
AMERICANS PLEASE STOP PERPETUATING THIS MYTH!!!!!!! STEAM FROM HOT CUP + STROOPWAFEL = SOGGY STROOPWAFEL
Sincerely,
A DUTCH PERSON
I prefer townhouses than the suburbs because it doesn't take too much space.
None of this makes a damn when China, India and Russia make up over 80% of the carbon emissions on the planet. These countries will never reduce their impact made by their industries so why should some poor or lower middle class person have to stop eating meat, ride public transport and buy overpriced goods because of the environment.
Most people can't move countries to find better urban planning, tho 😞
This is a great channel lol
10:35 I used to commute 45 miles EACH WAY to work everyday and I worked with several people who drove many miles more. It’s absurd when you can only afford to live an hour drive from where you work
Great vid… top topic and I love your voice-over. Intonation, accentuation/emphasis and timbre are really great and pleasing to listen to. Added your humor and choice of words are (among?) the best. You should do more with that. (and yes I am from the NL)
