Hey,

So I'm looking for my first MTB, I already own road bikes. I'm a tall guy – 187cm – 6'2" ( ? not sure how this works).

With this size I would usually hesitate between Large, Extra Large. I think my current road bike is too big (XL – 62cm frame) but I deal with it.

Anyway I would buy a Giant Trance online, https://www.giant-bicycles.com/fr/trance-29-1-2022. I tried to use the given "what's my size" on the french site which is very comprehensive, it asks for your height, crotch, femur, torso and arm legnth. I input my values and it gives me a size small.

Is this insane ? I absolutely cant wrap my head of having a frame size small. The first question being if I need a size small (even medium) who tf needs a large or XL except NBA players. And short people have no size available for them ? I know in the road bike industry, the trend is having smaller frames, as people noticed that we were all having super long frames that no one could handle.

Reach on the small size is 425mm, and large being 475mm. I must say now I hesitate between medium and Large, having a size S frame seems insane in my book.

    Thanks all

You must have entered something in wrong. I’m 6 foot 2 and ride almost exclusively XL/61 frames for most manufacturers

    2. Giants tend to run bigger but that is crazy, yes. I wouldn’t be shocked if you were between a large/XL.
