Hello everyone,

I'm currently riding a Specialized Camber Comp 29 from a friend I bought years ago, as my first mountain bike. I mostly do trails (steady climbs/fast descents, twisties and technical rockies) and currently trying to gain more confidence for jumps without getting scared shitless. I am in Los Angeles, California.

It's safe to say I've ridden the shit out of it, and figured since there are tons of seasonal sales going around, that it's time for an upgrade. Definitely want a lighter and more nimble bike as the Camber is quite heavy. It feels very good going fast downhill, but pretty "meh" at just about everything else. I really just want something that can do it all since the trails I'm riding are green to double black diamond.

As far as bike maintenance goes, I can do whatever is needed on a basic level like greasing, washing, checking air in tires/suspension, etc. But, as far as knowledge on parts, technical specs and geometry, I am completely oblivious. I've found the Stumpjumper Comp on sale for $3,500 (my budget) on Specialized's site. It is available in my size S4 as well.

So, I'm hoping someone can help me make a decision. I haven't heard anything bad about the Stumpjumper; it really does seem like a jack-of-all-trades trail bike. What are some options from other brands that can compare to it? Why should I NOT buy the Stumpjumper? I know there are tons of other brands out there other than the "big" names. I'd love to hear your opinions.

    Thank you!
