I washed it once a couple years ago after treading into a big pile of dog poop.

I washed a bike in the 90’s a couple times. Washed a bike a couple years ago.

You can wash them??

If it’s wet/muddy at all I always hose the bike down when I get home to wash off dirt/sand/etc.

I wash my bike as often as possible, it pays big dividends in inspection and enjoyment. My whip is always 100%, even when I am not. I just made that habit because I like to know, at any moment, I can grab my bike and go 2-3 days easy pease.

As little as possible, I live in a city with bad bike crime. Even though I don’t leave my bike locked up, unattended for long periods, I don’t want it to look shiny.
If I’ve been off road and there is lots of mud, I brush off when dry. Having full fenders massively reduces cleaning intervals regardless.

When the tan walls start to look grey/black. So like once a month? But I commute by bike.

Now I don’t commute daily, I keep em spotless.
They’re my pride and joy – why wouldn’t I.

Oof not enough. I live on the third floor of my building and I only have a balcony as a space to clean my bikes so it’s kinda cramped. I try to clean the critical areas like the chain, rims and brake pads after every big rainstorm to keep my bike running smoothly.

Too often, I hate dirt, mud & rust

Depends, apartment living doesn’t lend its self to clean bikes. My road bike (newest and nicest) gets about once a month at the least and once a ride at most. my other bikes get cleaned if I feel like they look too dirty but it’s not uncommon to just have my “beater” covered in dried dirt

I’ve washed my bike maybe 2 times in 3+ years, but I always give it a wipe with a rag after a ride in the rain, and I give the drivetrain a clean whenever it looks gunky

If I had white tyres I might wash mine more regularly!
Love seeing an M-TRAX here. Are those carbon tubes bonded into aluminium lugs? There’s a DYNA-TECH for sale near me (with a curved top tube) and I keep having to pretend I haven’t seen it for sale.

About once a month, maybe more in summer when the weather is good enough for me to go off-road and use the canal towpath on my commute and the dirt and muck builds up a bit more.
The ratbike however will be washed as-and-when I can no longer resist.

I just go riding in the rain and call it good #beltgang

Never. Ever. Ever. The dirt keeps dirt out of the bearings. Think about it. I service what needs attention in order to better function. If it works, it’s fine. Happy to carry 4 oz of dirt around. And ride more.
I never wash a bike. I clean the drivetrain from time to time, but otherwise they never get washed. Amazingly my bearings seem to last forever. I also never wash my truck. I’m all about that natural patina.

your bars and front end are cool. can you list what everything is? i’ve been wanting to use bars like that for a bit but just don’t have a bike for them right now

I go in weekly and power wash the grime out of the bottom bracket, hubs, basically everything with a bearing.

I scraped all the factory stickers off, does that count?
