In this episode, I take you on the start of my trip to Mallorca, the start of my 3-week long cycling holiday in Spain. There were some early hiccups – notably that my bike bag did not arrive in Mallorca together with me and I couldn’t find it. What a start to the trip!

I stayed there earlier this year! Great riding… Don’t miss the Assos outlet near Alcudia. Good prices almost 40-50% off.

why don't just find some tailoring service to sew it back up? such minor damage

I wouldn’t put my bike or especially a bike like yours in what is basically a sports bag…Definitely put it in a hard shell bike box which you can rent.Baggage handlers are known for not caring about people’s things…hate for your bike to get cracked.
Crazy that the lady who mistook your bag for hers took such little responsibility, that sucks. Enjoy the trip! Just got myself the tarmac and can’t wait to ride it over the weekend.

Try a local bike shop they may have a bike box you can use
TBH it's a shame the person who thought they were the only one that owned a bike bag like that, didn't take more responsibility. As a fellow cyclist they should be ashamed!
I have that bag, but not as nice a bike as yours and am heading to Majorca Saturday…fingers crossed 🙂

Pretty sure you could find like tailor or some kind of shoe repair shop that know how to fix zips and they can sew it to be better than new. Anyways you should claim the necessary compensations from your insurance company.

My Scicon is the older. No TSA locks. I think I want to mark my bag now.
Wouldn’t book a transit flight in Europe with so short time, don’t expect same efficiency as SG. Also my experience with Scicon bags are the worst so hope you buy something else.
always tag your bags with colorful ribbon or something unique. I do this for all my checkin bags

Mistake 1: no labels, no name tag, no special stickers etc.
Mistake 2: get a hardcase like B&W Bike Box II. Available in Europe. U might wanna try since its claimable under insurance.

Wow so sorry to hear of your hectic start to your vacation! I am glad to hear you are reunited with your bike though! Sad that the bag was damaged & hopefully you can get reimbursed a bit on that too. You know you might try & see if there are any boating/sail maker type shops there as they could easily sew canvas type materials & probably repair that …maybe? Anyway good luck & looking forward to further trip reports. Looks great!
