I'm really new to mountain bikes and have a limited budget for my first bike ($1000AUD).
I had initially planned to pick up a used bike but options for used bikes in my area are slim to none.
I went into my local bike store and since I'm tall 196cm tall they seem to think the best bike for me within my budget would be this:

I was initially looking at the big.trail200 but they didn't have it in a XL frame size.
I plan on riding my local hiking tracks and commuting to work in place of my motorbike.
would it be a waste of money to get the one linked and upgrade parts as I need to?
any suggestions of brands to look at within my budget?
