Hi guys.

I have managed to unscrew the non-driveside BB cap with the technique shown in der picture. It required a respectable amount of force. Unfortunatrly the driveside is stuck beyond imagination. I am pretty sure this should be english threaded, so the direction is most likely correct.

I also used penetrating oil. This is an aluminium frame.

Is there anything I die not think of, besides an even bigger lever? My last resort would be the old anglegrinder. I'd try to grind away the edge of the cap to relieve some stress from the threads. Is this feasable?

    Thanks!

      Good job securing the tool!

Longer lever is the way, I’ve got a 2m scaffold pole for this situation. I’d also heat the BB shell with a heat gun. When it starts to move, flood the BB with penetrating oil and screw it back every half turn or so to reduce galling.

Cutting off the flange will also remove most of the spline so don’t do that

    2. Drive side is reverse threaded (clockwise to loosen), I believe you’re going the wrong way.

    3. Make sure you are turning the proper direction (clockwise). Tap tap tap on the wrench with a small brass hammer, or use an impact driver.
