I have two butyl tubes rolled up tight in a pretty small saddle bag. I had so much faff getting a tpu tube in when I first needed it, and I came back to it flat, I decided it wasn’t worth it.

This is probably the main reason I switched to TPU tubes. I’m not such a high level rider that I notice the reduced rolling resistance. From my perspective, TPUs work just as well as butyl, is much lighter, and fits so much more compactly in the ride bag — there is no reason not to switch, especially as the price premium is pretty marginal if you buy RideNow.

    4. There are some extra light butyl tubes around, I think mine are from Schwalbe. Those are significantly less bulky. However I still only take tpu’s as spares on rides because their portability can’t be beat.
