The Wonders of Wakefield is an easy 21 mile, mainly off-road, signposted circular cycle route around the Wakefield area. It was created by the Wakefield Cycle Forum who continue to maintain and upgrade the route on a regular basis.
On 6 Oct 2024 I joined 16 members of the cycle forum to ride the trail in memory of one of their volunteers Bob Newton who died in Oct 2023 following a short illness. Bob spent his final days in the Prince of Wales Hospice in Pontefract and this month’s commemorative WoW ride doubled as a fundraising event on their behalf. The weather was kind and everyone who took part had a great ride. Here’s how we got on!
