So I got a trek fx1 like a year or less ago but somehow the paint on the bike has been rubbing off idk how.it looks awful as the rest of the bike looks great its on the fork area how to fix this myself/prevent further paint loss or how much would it cost to repaint?

    1. Shop routed car weird, they can possibly reach out to trek and have touch up paint sent, or maybe a discount on another FX. The handling of the case will depend on specific context.

      That looks like the cable rubbing against the frame and removing the paint. I am not sure what you can do to fix it, but to prevent it you can stick a protective layer on the points of contact between the cables and the frame

      I’d clean it thoroughly and then use black nail polish on it. Then put some clear protective tape over it to prevent it happening again. It’s not a perfect fix cosmetically speaking, but it’ll protect the raw metal from further corrosion. And while I love my bikes, I still treat them like appliances that get me places, and have no expectations that they’ll stay in perfect cosmetic condition forever.
