Some additional context… I spotted this at the local bike coop here in Chicago. It was listed online but hard to say what the condition was based on the photos so I went in to check it out. I absolutely loved the bike overall and it’s quite light for being a big frame, but when I saw the corrosion up close, I started having second thoughts. Price is right otherwise. It wouldn’t be used for anything other than riding around the city and wouldn’t live outside. I know people generally speaking tend to be leery of these old lugged carbon bikes but it still seems pretty solid. I’m just not sure what the odds are of coming across another one in my size in the next year or so.

Honestly, I’m just going to upvote for visibility. There are people with a lot of knowledge about these bikes. I’m not one of them, but no way in hell I’d ride it without having it looked at, in person, by an expert.
