Paris is so overrated, dirty, gray, people are rude, air is unbreathable, so much insecurity and that's coming from someone born there and living there for 30y. Nice is so much better, best city in France.
I recommend that you go to barbes rochechouart station, get out of the metro and visit the beautiful surrounding area ! You won't be disappointed !

Unspoken rule of Paris: don't go there
I would add those ones:
– after 9PM metro is better. You may wait half an hour for a RER to come
– in busses you should use the door near the bus driver to board, and other doors to go out
– the exception is people with mobiliy issues. They should use the middle door and ask the driver to roll out the pathway
– busses only stop on demand. The button is usually on bars near the doors and it triggers a "arret demandé" sign near the driver
– the ticket system is really tricky, buy day/week passes
– there are night buses for most tourists places if you go out late. They use standard tickets/pass.
Do not come ! Trust me.
This city has become a real den of iniquity in the past 20 years.
Go to a country were criminals are punished instead.

As a Parisian other rules that I wish tourists knew:
-If you are not moving in the escalator stay on the right to let people pass
-Always let people get down of the metro before geting in, stay on the side of the door until everyone who want to get down have done so
-Mind the bycycle lane between the road for cars and the sidewalk, they don't all look like the ones in the video and some bycycle path are just a green lane on the sidewalk, don't stand there if you don't want to deal with a pissed off Parisian.
Also, f*ck AirBnB, avoid at all cost
1st: Stay home and watch at TV
If a taxi is harrassing you for cash, just say no and take a photo of the transparent sticker on the passenger windows where his license number is written, along with the telephone number of the police prefecture where there is a service dedicated to dealing with taxis. There is a good chance he will stop harrassing you. And if he doesn't, don't hesitate to report him. It works.
Metro in paris is cheap ??? Putain dmerde
The best app to plan your route is still IDF mobilités I think.
Please stay at the right side of escalators so people in a hurry can climb fast the left side. And if you have a luggage, put it in front or behind you, not to your side.

Well I'm a parisian I'm using taxi sometimes and never got a trouble with any taxi like not following the shortest route or using the meter. But I still recommend to be careful 👍
Sadly, when you’re out past midnight and Ubers keep canceling, taxi drivers have you in a bind, so I recommend always keeping some cash on hand if they refuse to take credit card.

here are 2 real unspoken rules :
Whenever you take the metro, RER or bus, if its packed with people and you have a backpack take it off and put it between your legs. this way it takes less space and paris people will like you better :).
When using escalators, if you intend not to move stay on the right side. Left side is for people going up and down the escalator trying to go faster. remember you are in vacation we arent we are trying to go to work or back home fast.

French use City Mapper to get the best transportation itinerary 🙂
I mostly recommend that people use Citymapper to figure out their itinerary, it’s way better than the ratp app and it will work in Lyon or Marseilles too

10 others unspoken rules :
1 – Restez à droite dans les escalators si vous n'avancez pas.
2 – Restez aussi à droite dans les escaliers ou les couloirs du métro pour ne pas déranger ceux qui arrivent dans l'autre sens.
3 – Mettez votre sac sur vos genoux ou entre vos jambes dans les transports.
4 – Si vous le pouvez, marchez. Paris est une toute petite ville, la plupart des trajets peuvent se faire à pieds surtout si vous arrivez à vous loger dans le centre.
5 – Faites attention aux vélos quand vous traversez, pas seulement aux voitures. Il faut regarder plusieurs fois. Et évitez de marcher sur les pistes cyclables.
6 – Comme partout ailleurs, il y a beaucoup de pauvreté à Paris. En général, évitez de donner de l'argent aux mendiants des grandes stations de métro car il y a des "faux mendiants" qui utilisent des enfants ou des femmes enceintes pour faire pitié aux touristes. (Bien sûr, je ne dis pas de ne pas donner à ceux dans le besoin mais vous serez beaucoup sollicité. Si vous n'avez pas trop l'habitude des grandes villes, il vaut mieux être au courant)
7 – Prévoyez toujours un peu d'avance sur votre planning car les métros sont très souvent arrêtés pour des oublis de sacs, des problèmes techniques etc… Prenez le temps de planifier vos trajets et regardez sur le site de la RATP si il n'y a pas de fermeture de ligne, surtout si vous avez un horaire à respecter, comme pour pas rater l'avion le jour du départ x)
8 – En général, il y a deux bus qui se suivent aux heures de pointes donc il est parfois bon de perdre quelques minutes pour de voir si celui qui suit est moins bondé. Le deuxième bus est souvent vide quand le premier est bondé alors qu'il y a une minute entre les deux.
9 – Dans le métro, si vous ne savez pas où descendre aux arrêts parce que vous n'arrivez pas à retenir les noms des stations, vous pouvez repérer les bâtiments qui vous intéressent sur les affichages du métro. Si vous voulez éviter les endroits trop bondés ou grands, évitez simplement les stations qui sont reliées à beaucoup d'autres stations. Descendez une station avant et marchez un peu plus dans les rues qui sont très agréables pour la plupart.
10 – Les lignes de bus conseillées dans la vidéo sont une très bonne idée, prenez le bus et descendez au hasard à un endroit qui vous plaît ^^
Hello, why you have not done an item about the special requirments around the river Seine a week before the JO.
Tourist need a "passe jeux" or a permit for entering a certain zone and if I have the correct information you can not even enter that zone as a tourist if you do not have a reservation for a restaurant or museum; reservation+passe jeux= you can enter the zone, NO reservation and passe jeux= you can NOT enter the zone, reservation and NO passe jeux= you can NOT enter the zone.
If I knew this before, I did not go to Paris this weekend(July 21th) for my birthday like I do every year.
So a walk on the borders of the Seine is not possible this year🤬
Even the Eifel tower is in that restricted zone.

Good advices. I as a "Parisian" (living in suburbs) confirm all is said here especially about pickpockets. Be very careful with that. It can change holidays to hell.
– Always keep your right on escalators
– Unlike the US, the city is way more pedestrian-friendly, so feel free to walk (but be careful of pickpockets if you go in very touristic areas)
– Bikes don't care if the road is one-way and you're about to cross and will come from any direction so always look both ways before crossing
Used to live in paris for like 4 years as a french ppl, this video is a must see for anyone going there for the first time. It's sad to see all those scamers and pick pocket getting more and more around tho. But no one does anything about them to make it stop.
If you're visiting, i really hope you have a nice trip. Also be carefull, only few parisian know english. If you'd like to speak of make yourself understandable, talk to the young one first (Between 15 & 30's) , they are more likely to answer and help you.

Apart from cost, What are your thoughts on the tourist buses compared to bus 69?
It should be noted however in doing the RER vs Metro calculation that often the RER is a good walk from the connecting Metro lines, especially at Châtelet-Les Halles, and the frequency, especially at night when it drops to as long as 15 minutes, may mean a longer wait to catch a train so always use the Bonjure RATP app to find the quickest route to your destination.
On the bad side my wife, while on a solo trip to Paris, got scammed and charged double for an airport taxi. On the other had while traveling together I had a taxi driver turn the meter off when it hit the quoted price and refuse a tip because the trip took longer. So like everything there can be good and bad experiences.

Please do a video on train rules. I got fined €60 for putting my foot on the seat. In USA it's perfectly acceptable and there were no signs anywhere saying otherwise. I did not come across that law in any of your videos, I wish I would have known that. Otherwise your videos were extremely helpful buying train tickets and other stuff too
have to be honest here, all the cautions in this video are great, but are causing my caution meter to elevate almost to the point of picking somewhere else to travel to
I just got to paris a few days ago and got hit up by a taxi driver at the airport. he blocked me from getting into the elevator, but i had to go to the bathroom! and I had a lot of time to kill. it was just super random and aggressive, but all the taxis are in the cue.. you follow the little taxi feet on the ground. this guy was in just such a random spot to approach me. it caught me off guard, and it didn't hit me until later when I was getting coffee that it had even happened.
I got scammed in terms of the taxi scammers…got suckered into a moto taxi…yup…a motorcycle trio to Paris centre ville …I was terrified but also felt how exciting it all was …to be over 80 and zooming along in and out of crazy traffic,,,I knew I was scammed afterward but it’s still a memory worth every extra dollar it cost me! I had full confidence in the driver but had my eyes closed often and swore a whole,lot…just a blast ! 😂
