Recently took a chance on Elite Wheels through Aliexpress. When the thru axle bolt starts getting snug, the front wheel no longer rotates without hindrance. At first I thought this was brake rub, but the problem still exists with the caliper removed. If I dismount the wheel and press on the end caps and rotate them the brake side rotates fine and the non brake side does not. When I flip them around, that same end cap from the non brake side, now on the brake side still doesn't rotate, but the other does.
I'm not feeling super confident taking them for a test ride like this, but the manufacture is insisting on riding them until something fails

Wheel manufacture assures me this is normal

    1. Obviously not normal. Get a refund if you can and spend your money on a wheel set from a reputable brand. Last thing you want is that wheel locking up completely while you’re riding.

    2. “Is this cracked / safe to ride?” – If you have to ask, don’t ride it.

Edit to be more helpful – your frontwheel is not spinning – so you dont need to ride it until something fails, it failed already. Next thing failing would be you.

How much did you pay for them?

Because if it’s a lot less than for similar (on the face of it) wheels from a reputable brand you have to ask “Why?”… with the most likely answer being “You get what you pay for?”

Is the brake rotor even in the brake? Looks like it is just rubbing on side of brake.

    5. I’m no repairman but is it possible for you to remove the brake or wheel and adjust to slot the rotor into the caliper? Clearly, it’s not in now.

    6. It gotta rub at something, maybe tgr bearings need grease. Is the wheel out of dish and the tire rubs at the fork

    7. the wheel is fine, but the brake rotor is not inside the caliper… how did you even perform this task??

I should add, obviously I removed the brake caliper. This is to demonstrate that I have narrowed down the source of the binding to be from the hub

    9. The video isn’t very enlightening.

What is securing your brake calliper to the fork?

It doesn’t look like it is bolted on…is it zip tied???
