    1. I am trying to clean out the moving parts on my Giant PR2 wheels. I have heard they aren’t great but whatever, I’m also teaching myself.

I have already cleaned out and repacked the cartridge bearings but I cannot for the life of me get the hub body apart. This is where most of the scratchy noises are coming from I have deduced. I have tried turning the cone both ways (broke my tool), using a 12mm hex key on the inside with nearly my whole bodyweight (sketchy), soaking in degreaser, heating it up (but not too much) and it gives no sign of budging. On top of that there are so many different types of hubs, some with standard threads some with reverse, that I may have been wrenching the wrong way from the start.

Has anyone been successful in freeing the body? Is there something I’m missing? There are no lock rings inside, just the cone ring and the hex spline inside.

Edit: to be clear the unit works and spins freely but it needs new grease. The threads holding it on are seized.
