$220 for each bicycle one way from Barcelona to Seattle. Turkish Airlines pricing for bicycles is outrageous. Learn from my mistake, don’t book Turkish airlines when flying with a bicycle.

    1. I did the same, I got charged 300€ by Vietnam airlines
They trick you only once now you will check before buying, for exemple its free with Etihad

    2. Are you sure that’s not extra? For example, you might already have allowance for 1 sports equipment / luggage. The system will just give you the option to add stuff on top of what you already can bring as checked luggage.

    3. Or do, but just make sure you know the fees for bikes before you book and take it into account in the total price.

    4. Turkey to Dublin last year with Turkish airlines. Only cost me €60. Very good value within Europe.

    5. Where does on check the fees? I find it extremely difficult to find the info during the normal booking process?

Yikes, that’s ridiculous. I’ve flown on Air Canada which only charges C$50 each way for bikes, and Cathay Pacific doesn’t charge at all!

But the hassle of flying with a bike is why I’m planning to build a mini-velo with travel couplers so that I can just put it in a regular suitcase and not have to deal with either extra fees or oversized baggage on future trips with my bike.

    7. I dont fly anymore, because i dont want to be part of the problem and being one of the lemming who give a fuck and dont look up. Bikepacking is about cycling, traveling in a sustainable way. Not flying around for a coffee ride…. Wait you come from USA who are now suffering Hurricanes not seen the last 50 years…. meanwhile you..

    8. Have you tried being the mayor of New York? Then they will fly your bikes for free as a bribe.

When I fly with my bike, I make sure I know the fees before booking.

I also would never fly Turkish airlines anyhow, nor would I support Erdogan’s administration.
