Wet days are inevitable. For the fifth and penultimate race of this year’s series, the MTB trail center in Kočevje was drenched by rain, leaving the course muddy and challenging. Riders got soaked during practice, so this race will definitely be remembered for its tough conditions.
The excitement of returning to Kočevje for the SloEnduro series after a two-year break was somewhat dampened by the weather forecast. As a result, the number of entries dropped, and even more riders withdrew after Saturday’s wet practice session. In the end, 139 riders from four countries lined up on Sunday, but not all made it to the finish line. Despite a dry and sunny Sunday that warmed the autumn air, the special stages and the Friderik climb remained covered in mud, making the trails slick and tires heavy with dirt.
