I want to upgrade my 2008 Kona Jake, put a new groupset on it. Since I might sell it, I was thinking of not investing too much. Maybe a Sensah, but I’m not sure if I should go for 1×11 or 1×12. What would you recommend? I ride on fairly flat terrain. I’d like to know if the shifters are compatible with my brakes since they’re not disc brakes, and if I can use the same crankset to install a single chainring. Thanks, everyone! I'm running a 3×9 tiagra rear derailleur and sora in front but in general them and the shifters tiagra too had to much abuse

I wouldn’t upgrade the group set if you are thinking of selling (if it still works?). You are unlikely to make your money back. You could convert to 1x with that chainset but the chainline may not be ideal. One of the best upgrades you could make is swapping the front fork (+ new f wheel) that is disc compatible to give you some good stopping power.
