Which bike is best for me? Novice here

Some context:

I am looking for a reliable bike that brakes well and can function for the next five years. I will primarily be using this bike to commute about a mile back and forth from my college campus.

I really do not know anything about bikes, yet I want to make sure that I buy something reliable and something that holds its value.

All of these bikes are in my budget. The ones that cost more do not need to be tuned up seemingly and the ones that cost less need some work.

Any gems here? Or should I buy new or wait for more bikes to come up in my local area?
