Nature you wont find anywhere else may sound a bit too much, however, through all these years that I spent in Scandinavia and after a decade, it never ceases to fascinate me. This is Karlsby, a small village located just outside of Motala in Östergötland County, Sweden. Known for its tranquil surroundings and scenic beauty, Karlsby offers a peaceful rural atmosphere while being just a short drive from Motala, one of the region’s most important towns. This combination of rural charm and proximity to city amenities makes Karlsby a hidden gem for those seeking a quieter lifestyle or a peaceful retreat.

Only a few kilometers from Motala, Karlsby enjoys the best of both worlds. Motala is a town known for its connection to Sweden’s famed Göta Canal, a significant feat of engineering and a popular tourist destination. The canal offers opportunities for boating, cycling, and leisurely walks along its picturesque banks. Motala also has various cultural attractions, including the Motala Motor Museum, and the Varamon beach, one of Sweden’s largest freshwater beaches.
