    1. I live in Paris as well and I know for a fact that you can find a better and cheaper single speed bike in five minutes on leboncoin.

Everybody’s and their grand-mère are selling bikes left and right here, the market is really active.

I wouldn’t pay more than 100 euros for that specific bike.

Edit: single speed bike are usually quite low maintenance having no derailleur so I personally wouldn’t mind getting a bike for cheap that needs some parts replaced and be on my way.

    2. In general, parts are not the best, nor they worth much. But, I don’t know how much cheaper you can find something simmilar, because in my country this would cost at least 300 €.

In my opinion, don’t buy it. Rather collect a bit more money and buy Elops 500 or something new if aim for single speed

    3. Idiots who convert vintage road bikes into some single speed flat bar frankenstein monstrousity deserve to be publicly spanked.

    4. I’m going to disagree somewhat with some of these comments, because this does have a really nice frame. The lug cutouts, “spool” reinforcements, forged dropouts, brand name engraved on fork bridge and seat stay caps, all point to a pretty high-end bike when it was new.

Even though it’s old, butted chromoly (or similar, high quality frame material) from forty years ago is still going to be much nicer than modern high-ten steel. That Elops 500 for example that another commenter mentioned claims to be 11.6 kg- that’s HEAVY for a bicycle with no derailleurs or gears. This bike is almost certainly a couple kilos lighter.

But I don’t know what your local market is like. Personally, I’d still try to get a better price on it due to the scratches, and I’d probably want to at least upgrade to some used dual-pivot brakes, and if there’s extra left in your budget nicer pedals, crank, and a matching set of wheels would be nice, but not necessary.
