Hello would you recommend a used 2022 allez elite with rim brakes as a solid first time road bike? Price is $800 and has around 1.000 miles. Has carbon fork and sram gears. This is right in my budget
Great entry level bike! Price isn’t too far off. I’d bet you could talk them down a few hundred.

An Allez would be a great beginner road bike because it’s what’s called an “endurance road” bike, more relaxed geometry than a race bike, more approachable/less race-oriented gearing. a 2×11 gear setup is perfect
The only thing to keep in mind with a rim brake road bike is you tend to be more limited in tire size. This bike comes with 26mm and even some 28mm can be too wide. For light off-paved use they do make 26mm gravelking SKs, but this isn’t the bike I’d pick for gravel use.

Make sure it is your size!
