Lunch ride ๐๐
Great win
You never used strava Before?strava never gets power properly, this Man did way over 300w average
41miles per hour in his final sprint…..
That is after 4 hours in the best bike race in the world…
You should look at normalized power.
Absolute animal
Absolutely, most men will never even do 300 watts for 20 mins fresh. When you put 20min @ 411w that far into a 130 mile ride, it sounds impossible.
I think the overall higher speeds of the stages has faded out alot of the previous generation sprinters that were able to avg. much lower 180watts for most of the stage and then blow out so much higher 1700+ watts at the end for a sprint
Totally insane! so much respect for this extreme sports. Wout is a damn steamroller ๐
Ooh la la! Incroyable.
Great break down Ollie, can we have this on the daily throughout the tour
Whatt ?
He actually cropped the last kilometer including his attack. That was just sitting in the wheels.
I can average just a hair over 300 watts for half an hour- maybe 40 minutes if Im really trying on my Peloton, but thats taking out any wind resistance or riding in a pack or line selection that Id encounter on my Tarmac. These guys are accomplishing herculean feats.
Bruhhh, I can't even do 245w for one hour, that's more than my FTP!
They arenโt humans โฆ. โก๏ธ๐ฅ๐ฅ
So… How much energy is that? Can I toast my toaster with that many watts?
Canโt win Tour de France without PEDs.
More people watch Tour de France than the Super Bowl, World Cup, etc. Its the #1 sports event in the world.
"Lunch Ride" LOL
Love filthy pro wattage data
Great lil summary! Nice.
Incredible a beast! Some wattage.
426W @6.3 W/kg = 68 kg or 150 lb
Beyond comprehension. That much power from so little weight.
Some other commenter threw out normal person doing 300W for 20โ. Youโd have to have some genetics and train very hard to do even that assuming youโre relatively thinโฆ 165 lb. Someone that is athletic and 230 lb can generate more power, but too heavy to go up hill.
1200 Watts max in a 4.5 hour stage is big as well!
Living this detailed insight…and the prints on the wall…๐
Mind boggling ๐ฎ Powerhouse ๐ฅ
Forgot to mention his weight which is important as well..
Is it true that some riders average watts increase as the days go on in these โbrutalโ multi day tours๐ค๐ค
Now that IS amazing!
You need some juice to do that
The Power of a Locomotive !
Ahh im gutted for cav
WOW
Im a snail in a wheelchair compared to these folks
Heck I averaged 200watts on my 11 mile ride the other night, and Im 55!!
YOU NEED STEROIDS TO WIN TOUR OF FRANCE… LANCE ARMSTRONG SAID IT'S NOT POSSIBLE TO WIN THE TOUR WITHOUT STEROIDS, THAT THE REAL HEROES OF THE RACE ARE THOSE GUYS ON 60-70 PLACE ..!!
In isolation they are numbers I wouldn't dream of hitting.
Thank you Ollie to make it technical, without it we simple mortals would not understand what it actually takes, besides being young and able to take on the world in the most physical endurance endeavor we call cycling. Thatโs where the love comes from, and we get to see beautiful places. Sounds like the ultimate win to me! Keep going with the technical stuff, iโm qlso a nerd about this ๐๐๐ค๐ค
Wout van art is one of the best sprinters
Power meters have reduced the sport, not enhanced it.
These guys are just ridiculous with the amount of power per kilo they're putting down. These are guys that average 150lbs.
in addition the accumulated km in the past stages
The lunch ride is an alpha move
Lunch ride w/attack ๐ ๐ ๐
The importance of timing and tactics in cycling, by which you mean top class professional road racing – a very small part of bicycle use. They have no importance in leisure cycling, commuting, or touring for example.

blogspot.
com
for non cyclists…average cycling enthusisast cant even hold that 4hr avegae for ONE hour..much less do 400+ watts for 20 minutes and certainly not at the end of 4 hrs at ANY average
Stop all that crap,itโs too much science
