I’ve been trying to get a bike for almost two weeks now, but it’s all very confusing from seeing the right size (mtb and whatever else almost all look the same in fb marketplace) to trying to see what else beside the frame is the right size (the stem?)

i can barely get info from the seller who always doesn’t seem to know the frame, i just ask the last rider’s height

i am 5’1 with 72 inseam. i want to cycle soooooo bad its one of my dreams please help me.

i can’t buy something expensive as i am barely affording rent and food, i just want to use it for light shopping trips and morning rides 🙁

tldr; which bike should i get for my 5”1 height 71inseam? what should i look out for when trying them? i don’t know how to ride so idk how to check and don’t want to be scammed. three options in the pictures, if any of them seem good pleasee guide me

    1. These are all kids bikes with 24” wheels except the last red one I believe (seems a suitable bike and price too). You would want a bike using adult sized wheels (26” or bigger) and a frame size of around ~13” to 15” the exception being a fold up bike or similar, take into account suspension seatposts and chunky saddles when looking as these will effect the minimum height but can also be swapped out for different parts easily enough

    2. I like the Raleigh the most of the three it by a known brand and probably cost the most new. On things to look for make sure it goes into each gear when pedalling. Give the stem ( the thing that holds the bars ) ,wheels and crank(the thing that the pedal are attached to )a wiggle if they is a lot of movement some bearing have failed and need replacing. see if the tyres are not cracked as they will also need replacing. Make sure the brakes work as well give each wheel a spin and pull the lever. If you can get someone who can ride a bike not matter if the bike fits the can give it a quick ride to see if any thing . At this end of the market I would get a bike is fully functioning over better parts.
