    1. In my quest to find grips that wouldn’t make me sore and offering options for a variety hand positions, I think I finally cracked the code – the Ergon GT1 grips! I’ve gone through a few grips, and previously was sporting [ESI Chunky Grips](https://www.reddit.com/r/Brompton/comments/1fns4uf/new_toys/) with Spirgrips, and while those were tremendously helpful over previous grips I’ve tried (including other Ergons), I’d still got sore after some time.

After installing the new grips, I went on a 26 mile ride today, across DC and up the Capital Crescent trail, and I’m pleased with this grip’s performance. No soreness, which can be attributed from the variety of hand positions it can support. For example, the bulbous ends allow me to grab it during steep ascents where I need to get out of the seat, sort of like outer bars (without having actual outer bars), and the thumb grips for added comfort when I brake or need to tuck in and put the pedal to the metal. The rubber has a nice firm squish to it, and the pattern didn’t bother my palms like other Ergon grips do. It did wonderfully and I highly recommend it for anyone needing swiss army grips.

Warning to anyone though, each grip does require 130mm of handlebar space and I got the small size. I’m not sure if the large requires more space.
