Looking to upgrade from my 2019 Giant Trance 2.
Vast majority of my riding is in the Canadian Rockies.
- Mostly ride up mountains and down black trails.
- Do some hike 'n' bikes up summits.
- Do some cross country rides.
- Do a handful of shuttle/park days every year.
- Always trying to progress as a rider, enjoy jumping but most trails are technical descents.
Both the 2023 Stumpjumper EVO Comp and 2024 Jeffsy Core 3 are C$4,500.
I've looked a lot of options to take advantage of the current sales, but it's getting hard to find large frame sizes this late in the season.
Which of these two bikes would you go for based on the type of riding I'm doing? Cheers!

I’ve been on an evo since they came out and still love it, no plans to replace the frame any time soon.
I do a similar mix to what you’re talking. I’ve got a lot of elevation, shuttling, and proper
lift access near by.Â
Parts spec between the two is basically the same. The evo gives you more geo adjustment, but mine lives in low and slack mode.
Sold my 23 stumpy Evo for a 24 Jeffsy.
Find the Jeffsy a little more playful and flick able. never got a long with the stumpy.
Jeffsy is a much better value unless you’re going to buy a stumpy from a LBS and need in store support.
I ride a stumpy evo and love it! I live in Salt Lake and it has been a dependable and joyous bike for everything from mellow flow to bike park laps to the Whole Enchilada. I ride hard and fast,
The bike is very much a well balanced bike, great in so many different things, but not amazing at any one thing. So if you want a Swiss Army knife, it’s awesome — if you want a sledge hammer for a paring knife, you may wanna look elsewhere.
I will say, if you ever wanna run a coil on a stumpy evo, there are a narrow range of options. And its linear suspension kinematics mean it moves through travel so not ideal. But I run a Rockshox coil and LOVE it!
