I rode my Planet X Bootzipper mtb the short distance of only 8 miles from home to Liddington.
Liddington is a local land mark and contains an Iron age hill fort, A very well known clump of tree’s and a “Starfish Bunker”.
The hill is visible for miles around and was a beloved place for two local authors Richard Jefferies and Alfred Williams.
I had intended to camp at the Hill fort but there were cattle there so had to move on a short distance to find another suitable camping spot.
I used my Terra Nova Laser tent and heated water for my meal on a Click stand stove.
The weather did not disappoint, I was looking forward to a rainy camp and I got one, also got soaked in the process of getting to camp which wasn’t so nice:)

  1. Great camp Sandy mate 👍
Today is Friday 27th, yesterday we had a MASSIVE storm, huge amount of rain, wind and thunder – didn't last long, but hasn't really stopped raining since!
    Nice one mate 👍
Cheers and all the best to you and yours 🍻🍻🍻

  2. Great video Sandy, You do like to to have a struggle mate, its in your nature. Nothing to easy, can be as well enjoyed as something you've worked for bud, an't that true !
Best regards to one and all in the house of the Wiltshire man.

  3. A great wee overnighter Sandy👌😎30 odd minutes of escape for us……Some challenges with the bike v weather eh? I used to play golf at Pollok in Glasgow and there was a place that rumour held it to be a witches mound/sacrificial area. I sliced the ball in to the small area once (40m circumference ) and whilst searching for the ball, I felt totally calm and centered . It can be seen opposite Pollok House. KTF🙏

  4. dude i am not known for my tact,i tend to expect a direct answer to a direct question, just my way i guess but what is going on with your face-presume you had a stroke at some point-no offence and not judging (obviously alot of your subs will be horrified i asked the question but i aint asking them so their input is irrelevent to me) its just a question fella 🤷‍♂

  5. I think you need some better waterproofs as you seem to get wet which can’t be comfortable, I where merino top and bottoms as they keep you warm and dry quickly . You are what they call a proper camper , I would not be there , too much for me bless you😊

  6. Hi Sandy, you deserve a medal up on that hill in that weather. It's a good video this one. What a day for you,get some hot food in you, and have a swig of whisky. Keep warm if you can .

  7. I had a feeling you might be out in the storms Sandy. I was thinking that maybe we could all have a whip around & help you get a Hillyberg of your choosing? May a just giving page could be set up? You give us countless hours of entertainment so maybe we could help you get something in return. (YouTube seem to delete my original comment) thanks again Andy

  8. Loved the video, Sandy. You are so right when you say that you feel that you have lived.
A lot of people don't feel the seasons anymore. Its important that we feel the cold and the heat . Also important that we feel thirsty and hungry, which is exactly what we get out of cramping and hiking in the wild.
Your an inspiration my good man!! 😃

  9. " The hard camps are the best"
Jeeeezzzz Sandy talk about been dedicated!! I take my hat off to you, sir. Brilliant watch and you stay in front of the camera , that's where we want you. Thank you so much for your enthusiasm!" Best wishes to Mandy and yourself . P & M .

  10. Bit of a damp and windy one that sandy. Surrounded by history though 👍🥰♥️ cold and wet is not great so make sure to have the right gear with you as we want you kept in one piece please. Love to Mandy hope she’s feeling better ♥️♥️♥️👍👍👍👍

  11. Blimey Sandy you really were exposed up there, that Starfish site is really interesting, they used to spray high pressure diesel into an area and set it alight as a bombing distraction, no wonder they had a bunker,
There was (apparently) a false copy of Wroughton airfield in fields near the airfield that they used to light up as a distraction also🤷. Another great video, let’s hope you get less inclement weather next time 👍😎

  12. What a lovely, although weather exposed place to be put to rest Sandy…you explained it perfectly, sacred ground. I see the vandals have been spraying there too. And I was on a wild camp with my friend Chey (A friend of Vee's and one of the group lived in an old house in Dorchester. They had an old air raid bunker and there were loads of butterflies down there too…masses of them. Well overdue these downpours now…the ponds near mine are more than half empty, so I expect them to be filled soon…nature always finds a way. Liking that burner stand etc in titanium…Still looking on reviews on how well it cooks over other metals. Thanks for taking us along with you sir 🙏

  13. Been busy 'honing' my gear after a recent 'fly-camping' weekend with my microlight. Definitely getting colder so a change of warm clothing and a pair of gloves and hat are now an essential part of my kit for when on the ground. Glad you enjoyed the adventure – I did too. Looking forward to the next one 🙂

  14. Fantastic video Sandy. Really enjoyed it. You captured the adversity of the rough weather well. I always like hearing the rain on the tent too. I was out in the biggest thunder storm I’ve ever encountered fishing the other week, with lightning flashing all round the bivvy. It was an exhilarating experience.
